Norwich Museums will be supporting Adult Learner’s Week by hosting a variety of events at Norwich Castle Museum, Bridewell Museum, Strangers’ Hall and Norwich Castle Study Centre. Several of the activities are ‘specials’, for Adult Learner’s Week only, and some are free of charge. Take the opportunity to visit us, explore what’s on offer and discover what you can learn with the Norfolk Museums Service.

‘The Jacquard Loom – A 19th Century Computer ’Bridewell Museum is home to the recently restored jacquard loom which played such an important role in the city’s weaving industry. Visitors will be able to see the forerunner of today’s digital computer in full working action as specially trained weavers demonstrate how it is used to produce the famous Norfolk cloth.

Continue to Bridewell Museum where you can view the only working Norwich Jacquard loom.
