Become a UNISON union learning representative!
Union learning reps (ULR) are a special type of trade union activist focused on education. They work with the union to help members get access to learning opportunities that can benefit them in their professional and personal lives.

The ULR role involves:

  • Signposting members to local training and development courses.
  • Attending steering groups aimed to help influence the internal training agenda at work.
  • Promoting the power of lifelong learning in your branch, workplace and at union conferences.
  • Delivering or organising training within the workplace.

On January 9th, representatives from UNISON Norfolk County Branch and Norfolk County Council signed a new revised Learning Partnership Agreement. The Learning Agreement establishes a joint employer/trade union learning steering group that will help to decide the training needs of the workforce, and commit both parties to work together to support the training and development at Norfolk County Council for the next two years. Supported by the union learning fund UNISON and the council will facilitate a range of work-based courses as well as exploring other workforce development opportunities. Courses on offer in the coming months include numeracy, ICT and social media training.

National Novel Writing Month in Great Yarmouth

 
Congratulations to our leaners in Great Yarmouth who took part in the NaNoWriMo challenge to write a novel in the month of November with the help of weekly writing sessions held at the Great Yarmouth Library.

Ask a Gardener: Gardening Question and Answer Session


 
Autumn is the perfect time to plan your growing plot. On October 1st, the Norfolk Master Gardeners’ will be on site to answer your gardening questions and give advice on how you can start a successful gardening project.

When: October 1st 12:30-1:30

Where: Mez 2 at County Hall.

Don’t have a plot of your own to start with? Join the County Hall Community Garden project to have a space where you can garden before and after work.
